RIDE: Unplugged - 30th Anniversary Acoustic Shows
Thursday 29 November 2018
St. George's, Brighton

Ride have announced a one-off and intimate acoustic tour in late November and early December to round off a brilliant 18 months of new music, sold out shows and festival appearances. The five date run will mark the 30th Anniversary of this revered Oxford quartet, all providing a big, cyclical celebration of Ride's life in music and another opportunity to enjoy their much loved live show before taking a well earned break.

On first glance an acoustic tour might seem a strange way of celebrating Ride's gloriously noisy journey through thirty years of sound, especially one that was termed 'shoegaze' by the media in the '90s. The tour idea originally sprung from a unique night in April earlier this year when Ride played a beautiful old church, St Paul's, in Worthing. Ride performed an entire acoustic set, mixing in recent songs from the acclaimed 'Tomorrow's Shore' EP and 'Weather Diaries' album - both produced by Erol Alkan and mixed by Alan Moulder - with tracks from Creation-era classics 'Nowhere', 'Going Blank Again' and 'Carnival Of Light'. The set sounded totally psychedelic and robust, retaining the magic of the full electric set up and completely captivating the audience. So much so, it seemed like a good idea to do it again.

Over to the band with a further take on the acoustic "These shows will explore and span old and newer songs giving us a chance to play some tunes we rarely get to perform along with more familiar tunes in a different way. We’ve been loving all the shows we’ve been playing since our reunion and we look forward to these".

The venue - St. George's, Brighton (facebook.com/StGeorgesConcerts):

We are an excellent historic, atmospheric Church space for live music venue located near to the centre of Brighton in the Kemp Town area. East Sussex.

After operating for over 15 years, as a live music/event space, St George's Church provides the perfect venue for events, with its great acoustics, simple but beautiful setting, facilities and seating for up to 550 people.

Similar to the Union Chapel in Islington/London, in addition to being a working Church, St Georges regularly plays host to events from local choirs to international contemporary touring artists. The Church hosts many events during the year, some organized by the Church community or local charity organisations, others by local and national music promoters and festival organisers.
